In 2008 to 2009, Powers & Company, Inc. prepared a Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Application for the Seneca Hotel standing at 361 E. Broad Street in downtown Columbus, OH. The Seneca Hotel, built in 1917 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is an impressive 11-story brick hotel constructed in the English Revival style. Campus Apartments, the present owner and developer, invested $12 million to convert this structure into 77 studio, one- and two-bedroom units for students and faculty at nearby universities.
Designed by noted Columbus architect Frank Packart, the interior contains an expansive 2-story paneled wood lobby on the 1st floor and a paneled wood ballroom on the 3rd floor. A two-story brick garage was added to the southeast end of the building in 1918. The building was converted to EPA offices in 1973, but stood vacant in recent years. |
