Powers & Company, Inc. is presently involved with listing the H.W. Butterworth & Sons Company Building on the National Register of Historic Places. Once listed, the building will qualify for the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Program. The application for this program will be crafted by Powers & Company, Inc.

Standing at 2410 E. York Street in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, this two- and three-story brick structure originally housed the H.W. Butterworth & Sons Company, a manufacturer of textile finishing machinery for such activities as the bleaching, printing, dyeing, drying, mercerizing, singeing, padding, and tentering of fabrics. Nearly a block long, this brick building is composed of nine contiguous sections with varying build dates, from 1870 through 1925.

In the proposed rehabilitation, the building will be renovated for commercial studio/office spaces. On the 1st floor, eighteen commercial studio office spaces will be created, primarily centered around an open common area in the eastern center of the floor plate. This monumental space was the former erecting shop and it is being retained in its entirety with its double-height volume, exposed truss ceiling, steel columns, perimeter walkways and metal railings. On the 2nd floor, thirty-four commercial studio spaces will be created around the perimeter of the floor plate. The area in the center of the floor plate will be open to below, as is found is the current interior configuration. On the 3rd floor, twenty-eight commercial studio spaces will be created around the perimeters of the east and north elevations and portions of the north and south elevations.
